Title: “Manufacturing Alliances”
Abstract: In recent years, small and
medium-sized enterprises have become more active
participants in strategic alliances across a
range of sectors, including manufacturing and
service provision. Strategic alliances are
co-operative arrangements between independent
companies based on business contracts to enhance
the competitive strategies of the participating
enterprises. The allied firms trade mutually
beneficial resources such as technologies and
skills, joint sales and networking efforts,
corroborated project management or elevated
purchasing power. Mr. Mandeville’s presentation
contains a set of recommendations on issues at
the center of collaborative discussions on the
necessity of forming strategic partnerships in
Southeastern Michigan, with an emphasis on the
Tool and Die Industry. This presentation will
cover Mr. Mandeville’s experiences as a member
in three successful alliances - TEC Detroit,
Automation Alley, and, the most recent, Global
Tooling Alliance, working together to create new
capabilities and generate new opportunities in
the region.
